Pantysnacker
Gordon gave me a good scare Saturday morning.
And I deserved it.
For those of you who maybe haven't gotten to hear my lecture about why people cannot leave socks/underwear/other small clothing items lying around when Sir Gordon is present - I will give you the brief on my problem child - I cursed him with the name Sir Gordon Snacks A Lot. Over the years, that has included: socks, blankets and yes - even underwear.
Due to my lack of responsibility upon my return from Steamboat (aka: the shutdown after the breakup), I failed to immediately unpack my suitcase which apparently, Gordon took as an invite for to go digging for a panty buffet.
Of course, the moment I realized what was going on - the suitcase was unpacked and everything was put in it's proper place. Unfortunately, the damage was already done as he threw up four pairs over the course of a week.
So Saturday morning, I was a little late to rise and normally, this little guy is doing his breakfast dance if it's any time past 9 a.m. He seemed to lack some interest and when I put his bowl down in front of him, he walked away.
That, my friends, has only happened once over the past four and a half years.
So I went straight in to Mama Bear mode. I called the vet, had Miranda drive us to my car that we had (responsibly) left on S Broadway and drove out to the Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital.
There, I explained Gordon's history to the technician (who apparently hates the world panty so I apologize if I am offending anyone here with the use of that term), she called triage on us and we were in to see the Doctor within minutes. Upon examination, Gordon seemed to be fine (besides the whole tail between the legs/terrified to be at the vet thing) but we all knew that it was the x-rays we needed to get through.
The Doc threw out some numbers to me and, of course, I just said yes, yes whatever the cost.
Luckily, no foreign objects were found inside Gordon. We were given a full walk-through of the x-rays (kinda cool to see all the working parts inside that doodle), given an anti-nausea medication and were told to call if he was still not eating. The good news? The minute we walked through the front door back at home, Sir Snacks A Lot went straight to his dish and ate up his entire breakfast.
It was (a very expensive) reminder to me that I have a problem child and no matter what is going on in my own life, I need to ensure that my #1 boy is taken care of. So thanks Gordon, for reminding me of what matters the most.
You.

Window In to My Soul
I had someone recently tell me that all anyone needed to know about me could be found in my laugh and in Gordon.
This warmed my heart more than you could ever know.

Shots of Cheese : Twenty - five : Holiday Puppuccino
I'm a crazy person about Starbuck's Caramel Brulee Lattes so when Lora asked me if I wanted to grab a mid-morning pick-up for the office, I happily obliged knowing that my favorite holiday drink was a just a few sips away.
Gordon went with me down to 16th St. and as I was waiting for my drinks to come up, I turned to see him sitting patiently on the patio, staring hard in to the window to see where I was.
As my heart filled with warmth, I thought that good boy deserves a Puppuccino - which he was rewarded with upon our return to the office.

Shots of Cheese : Seventeen : Snowdoodle
I'm not having the best of days so I'm not going to write much.
All I know is that when I'm feeling down, one thing always makes me feel better - and that thing is Gordon.
Ok, and wine. But wine isn't as cute.

Gordie! You're 3!
We've been through a lot this past year - from Hats on a Doodle to moving to Denver together in a jeep with your Aunt Linzi to your first day at work to your first drink to exploring Aspen together this past weekend. You continue to be my number one companion and I am so happy that we live in a place where that is accepted.
Even though you still have a nasty habit of eating things you're not supposed to - you are my pride and joy. Your little body kept me warm snuggled up against me on those cold nights in Pine. I was so happy to find out that you love the snow (but hated that your paws have the tendency to freeze up). It makes me so happy to see you get so excited to go to Cheesman Park every day after I get home from work to play with your new friends.
Gordon, you are my son, and I can't imagine my life without you.
Happy Birthday!!

Sir Gordon Drinks A Lot
A major appeal of moving to Denver was how dog friendly this city is. For example, yesterday after work, Gordon and I met Linzi at Tavern Uptown for Happy Hour.
We sat on the back patio and Gordon behaved himself, minus trying to jump on the waitress when she came back with our drinks. It's OK, Gordon, I got excited, too.
Also, apparently, the love of Moscow Mules is genetic. Looks like I'll be picking up some copper mugs in the near future.

A Preview.....
Mother Nature decided to bless Gordon and I with a preview of our upcoming new lives this morning in Las Vegas.
Unfortunately, Gordie wasn't too thrilled with the result - as you can see in the photo below of him walking AROUND the snow to get back inside. Better get used to it, bud. Maybe it will be more fun when there are FEET of it instead of just a slight coating.

Hats on a Doodle
I came home the other night and Sir Gordon was rather sleepy. I looked at him, calmly lying on my bed, and decided to put a hat on him.
And so it began.
I'll be posting a series of Sir Gordon: Hat Model over the next few days. Or weeks. Depending on how many hats I can find.
And cookies for his patient self.

DOODLES!
Today our little Sir Gordon Snacks a Lot turns TWO. You'd never know it though since he still has the energy of a 5-month old pup.

To celebrate, we met two of my old professors, the Basquaits, at the Dog Park for some DOODLE MADNESS.
They have a 5-year-old Labradoodle named Fenway who looks like an enlarged version of Gordie. No, like EXACTLY.
Double the Doodle = Double the Happy.
