(Downtown) Dreams Do Come True

My apologies, my babies, as I have been a little busy since my return from Vegas. I got back to Denver on Tuesday, applied for a few jobs, got a call on Wednesday for an interview on Thursday and had an offer by 6 p.m. Thursday night.

That's right. Katie Knoch is once again employed.

I am the PR Account Executive at Scream Agency. A smaller creative agency, 15-years-old, located right downtown (Wazee and 15th to be exact). I work with 3 women, all whom I believe will be some of my closest friends I make here. I've got a great list of clients to work with - including a Kimpton run hotel in Aspen and the Lodo's - the bar that throws the biggest St. Patrick's Day party in Denver - Keggs and Eggs.

This was day 4.

It was absolutely insane. We were there at 7:30 a.m. and this is what the place looked like - just mix that with the scent of beer and you'll be close to knowing what it was like.

I am loving every second of it though - I am so happy to be back in the daily grind. Not to mention that when I move in to my new place in two and a half weeks, I will be a short 2.8 mile bike ride to work.

I am living in Capitol Hill and working in Lodo - so I am here to tell you, babies, that sometimes when you choose happiness....it chooses you back.

The Lighting of the Cacti

Otherwise known as Katie's Crazy Cactus

For the past 5 years, I have been proud to be part of an annual Vegas holiday tradition...the Ethel M Cactus Lighting Event. This year, the event took place on a magical little Tuesday (the 16th) and was covered by what was that? Oh yes, all 4 of the local TV stations in Vegas.

So it was pretty much the biggest thing that went down in town this week (if you ask me). I am so lucky to work with such a great team, both here at SK+G and over at Ethel M.

If you get a chance - you should definitely go check the Holiday Cactus Garden out over at Ethel M (2 Cactus Garden Drive in Henderson at the corner of Sunset and Mountain Vista). It is now open to the public through January 1 and this year it's in - wait for it, wait for it.....3-D!!! I know - that just blew your mind.

You can thank yours truly for that one after I visited the Denver Botanic Gardens last year, I came back to share the idea with Ethel M and BAM -in the words of Arlene Bordinhao- we made it happen.

For all of us believers, Santa is out there every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with local choirs performing on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the season. The lights go on at dusk and stay on until 10 pm nightly.

And in case THAT didn't sell you....there's Peppermint Bark.

A Handful of Happy

At work, we are currently in the depths of a special project that M&M'S World hired us for. The short of it is, they are launching the My M&M'S Experience, where you can make personalized M&M'S right there on site. For example, if you wanted to make me a bagful of M&M'S that read I Love HSCOOC, you could do so there. This is the first machine of its kind, as prior to this week, you could only get these M&M'S online. Soooo we've decided to make a gigantic Welcome to Las Vegas sign made out entirely out of M&M'S. And by we, I mean my friend Gabe that we ended up hiring for the project.

We are aiming to break a Guinness World Record here, people. We are talking 50,000 M&M'S, 100 lbs, and 5 x 7 feet of delicious glory. We are unveiling it Wednesday morning on the Strip at 10 a.m. in case you want to roll your happy butt down there to see this masterpiece in person.

Otherwise, I will be sure to post photos of the sign on here.

The whole point of this is, for the past 30 days or so, I've been talking M&M'S all day, every day and the temptation has just been bubbling inside of me. On Thursday, we went down for a walk-through for the unveil and I got a trip to the wonder that is the M&M'S Wall. Peanut, Pretzel (my new personal favorite), Peanut Butter, Classic. Basically, I've had a tummy ache ever since and a smile on my face.

I Am Awesome.

It's true. And I feel just fine saying it since I've been feeling a little down lately, I think it's perfectly fine to remind myself that I am truly awesome. Especially after coordinating such a successful event as I did the other night. With the help of Stacy and my other SK+G Girls...we pulled off the biggest opening for a pizza joint in Las Vegas (and maybe the world), EVER. Don't believe me? Then believe John Kats, journalist for Greenspun Media Group. He summed it up the best here. Oh wait and you should watch this, too.
