This is a post that has been in the works for awhile. I decided a few months back that I should sit down and collect a playlist of my top 100 songs. This was hard. And not hard to come up with 100 but rather than to cut it down from like 554,324,309.
The ones I had an issue cutting down artist wise were my usual suspects, JT, Jay-Z, KOL, Phoenix, Jack Johnson but I tried to spread the love. Some of these songs are my favorites because of the meaning behind them and if there is, I will include it but know that most of these just get me smiling and singing along. And that if we take a road trip together someday, you are guaranteed to hear at least 40% of these on said trip.
If it's something I think you need to hear, it'll be highlighted and you can follow the link. And if you really love it, and I love you, I'll make you a mix-tape :)
So here it is, in all of it's randomness, jamminess, get you moviness....and in no particular order.
Are You That Somebody - Aaliyah (R.I.P.)

Oh, young love)

What was that? You want an encore? Ok, well if you insist since I know a few of you are like OH NO WAIT A HOT SECOND HERE, I know Katie and there is no way she would make a playlist and not include this one....
Kate - Ben Folds (My personal theme song for life. When I walk down the street, this is the song that plays in my head, and yes, I am making spirit fingers every tell he yells KATE! and if you listen to the lyrics...SPOT. ON.)
And last, but certainly, certainly not least....

I loooove this list!! First off Sleepyhead effing rocks! I wake up to it every morning!! (I have to burn you one of their other songs called Secrets.) I also love that you put Nina Simone, MGMT and Cat Power! Had you heard that Ramalama song before I had given it to you? I play that over and over when I am in the mood to dance! And that Us song by Regina Spector, I had the DJ play it at my wedding. Oh damn, this is a good list. I am surprised no Muse and a bit taken aback by the addition of Beach Boys but I'm not hatin. Great job!
I highly approve. Of the songs I recognize, I, too, love them to bits.
You know where to send my mix tape. :)
Tiffanie, no, that Ramalama song was new thanks to you too...I told you I wasn't kidding when I said I fell hard for your mix! In retrospect, yes, Starlight by Muse definitely should have made it on this list. The Beach Boys are part of my history, my very first concert at age 5 on my dad's shoulders in Baltimore.
X, I'm glad to know that we could road trip it up together and I knew that already from your post a few months back. Mix tape will be delivered at the next Benneton meeting :)
Awww, that is so sweet about the Beach Boys with your dad. I will make sure to make you some more mix CDs so you can hear more awesome new music!! Love ya!!
