Killa Bees On Attack

Stop me if you've heard this one before. I was attacked by bees at age 8.

Note: I apologize if this post isn't the most riveting one ever, although getting attacked by bees is pretty serious stuff. You see, all the stuff I'd LIKE to write about, I can't. Well, I could but I am 99.8% sure it would come back to bite me in the ass. My new friend (yes, I am 8), blogs anonymously and I had a conversation with her not too long ago about how I sometimes wish I was writing with no by-line. The freedom to be able to express daily frustrations or just plain talk shit with no repercussions seems so LIBERATING. But instead, you all know who I am, what I look like and that I don't like hamburgers.

But enough of that. On to the ATTACK.

So my family owns a piece of land called The Rambo. The Rambo Run stretches for three miles with a fishing stream. My Grandpa and a few of his buddies way back in the day, bought this piece of land so they could have their own place to fish and shoot the shit. Or be men. Whichever you prefer. It has since been passed on and has a few hundred members. I think you have to be invited to join this club, so don't hold your breath. Even my invite hasn't shown up yet and my dad is the secretary. But I digress, since my dad loves trout fishing more even more than he loves Elton John, a TON of my childhood memories took place at The Rambo. And it is beautiful. See?

And yes, that first photo is of me fly fishing. Well, trying to at least. Again, the digression.
So I had this boyfriend when I was 8, Chris Kourner. I have no idea if I spelt his name correct but hopefully, Chris, if you're reading this, don't hold it against me. It's been a long time since I've scribbled your last name combined with my first. Chris and I were walking through the Rambo woods which consists of a VERY narrow path, one in front of the other sort of walking style. Chris, being the gentleman that he was (or so I thought), was walking ahead of me. We're almost to The Falls (pictured above) when Chris suddenly turns around, pushes me out of the way (there goes the gentleman title) and starts running like a bat out of hell. By the time that I can figure out what is going on, there is a giant swarm of bees heading towards me. I started screaming like the 8-year-old girl that I was and took off running with my arms flailing above me trying to fight off the bees. Now, keep in mind, this is like 1991, the same year that 'My Girl' hit the big screen. Yeah, you know the one where the kid DIES from a bee sting. Awesome. Luckily, I am not allergic and am here to tell you this story today. I escaped with a mere 30 or so stings covering mostly my hands, arms and cheeks. Not butt cheeks. Face cheeks.
I broke up with Chris that day.

In High Spirits

I am in a really good mood. I think there are a few reasons for this.

First, Lauren and I booked our flights for Florida today. $211 round trip means we heart Hotwire. We are going for Bookie's wedding which is June 13. We have a beach cottage booked for the whole week. A whole week. On the beach. With some of my closest friends. Could I be more excited right now??

Second, I went running yesterday and I did better than I expected. And yes, this totally has everything to do with thinking about being in a bikini for a week straight in two short months from now. At first, it was a little rough but after the fifth or sixth sprint I did, I was starting to get the feel of it. I took Gordon with me and I think it was a bit confused but he kept up pretty well. He's just got to quit cutting in front of me.

Third, I finished Twilight last night and am now a total vampire dork. Seriously, I want one.

Fourth, I have decided to cut my hair off. I'm over this longness. It gets tangled and it's annoying. I am ready for cute hair again. With product. I love hair products. Just over the weekend, I purchased TWO feather headbands to wear with my new short hair. That I don't even have yet. But I will. April 25th.

Fifth, speaking of April 25, Eener and I are going to the circus, BRITNEY SPEARS' CIRCUS that is, on that very date. This makes me as giddy as it did when I was 17.

Sixth, I have happy hour tonight with my PR girls at Agave. No further explanation needed.

First Ever Saturday Morning Post

This is my first Saturday morning post ever.  I really had no reason to write other than the fact that this is my first Saturday morning post ever.

I'm currently sitting on my balcony trying to steal the internet/wifi from Buffalo Wild Wings across the street.  It's loud out here and my wifi connection goes from full to zero every five seconds.  But hey, in these crazy times...I just can't shell out the 50 bucks a month Cox is trying to charge me.  Plus it's 67 out today so I am certainly enjoying the weather, even if I want to punch through my screen every few minutes when the connection is dropped.  And I have to get up every two and a half minutes to get Gordon to stop eating the fake grass I have out here for him.

This morning I woke up at 7 (thanks to Sir Gordon), fed the little man and laid in bed watching VH1's countdown for the next hour.  Then I got up, got dressed and (wait for it, wait for it...) I WENT TO THE GYM.  This is the first time in six months I had been, I had to have eener drive because I couldn't remember how to get there.  This all stems from a few weeks ago when my boyfriend challenged me to do five push-ups.  I couldn't even do one.  On my knees, yes but a full body...I collapsed every time.

We then went to Starbucks where I am sure I drank all the calories I had just spent the last hour burning off but that's OK...I feel buff.  What is not OK is that for the past 30 minutes, I've been trying to purchase FOTC's Sugalumps (hysterical, last week's episodes was one of my favs ever) on iTunes and it keeps telling me I have the wrong password/screen name.  NOT TRUE.  I have had the same aim name since I was 11 years old.  I am not kidding.  It doesn't even make sense.  I'd tell you what it is but my blog is getting so popular, I can't have all my fans im'ing me all the time...I'd never get any work done!

Things I would like to do today: I'd like to go to Urban Outfitters and by those rose earrings I've been wanting forever.  I also want these from Anthropologie (both items inspired by Nie who is blogging again btw and is now a bigger inspiration to me than ever.) I'd also like to go to a bunch of thrift stores to go picture frame shopping for my new wall project.  I'd like to go to Red Rock for a hike with Gordo.  I'd like to go back to sleep for a few hours.  I'd like to get halfway through a book and finish my new Entertainment Weekly.  But more than likely I will sign off from here, take Gordon for a walk, get frustrated with the fact that there are no sidewalks where we live, go see Pep, come home, get ready and go to my preview dinner at the new Sammy's tonight at 7.  Maybe a movie after?  I've been able to cross most of my Oscar movies off the list now but I've still got to see The Reader, Frost/Nixon and Last  Chance Harvey oh and rent Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Tomorrow is the Superbowl.  I'm going to put $5 on TBD.
